Hello dear readers, we are very pleased to finally meet you! We thought you might be interested in finding out who’s behind this new tourist guide to Salisbury. This section of the website will tell you more about us and why we thought it was necessary to create the guide in the first place.
Who Are We
We are a married couple living in Salisbury, and we hope to become your virtual tour guides when you’re visiting our beautiful town.
We both share a love for travelling and we wanted to also share it with you, the readers. We don’t usually have “relaxing vacations” where we chill on the beach for days, oh no, we typically try to visit every place where something of importance ever happened. This is how you do “legs day” without even stepping a foot at the gym! We suppose you resemble us in this aspect and that’s the reason why you’re visiting our page. If you’re a travel enthusiast and a history buff, then you’re at the right place!
We mention the latter part because when we travel, we don’t just go to an interesting place to take a few photos and then leave. We explore the history by doing extensive research on the place of interest, which, in our opinion, enriches the experience. The articles you find on this website are examples of this type of research and we hope you find the information in them to be exhaustive, but also interesting.
Why Did We Create This Website
The coronavirus pandemic severely damaged the tourist industry of (almost) all countries around the globe. Cancelled trips, closed venues – you name it. We experienced this first hand when we went to Turkey a few weeks ago. Although the country is virtually open and business operates (almost) as usual, one could still tell that the pandemic changed many things.
For one, some places required a special code (HES code) that is used to track coronavirus spread in Turkey. This is how we ended up with our cards for public transportation being locked, which barred us from doing some of our pre-planned activities for the day until we got internet access to download the HES app. Other inconveniences included venues that operate at a limited capacity and only with a tour guide. However, we only found out about this once we were already there, which ended up eating a great chunk of our time in Istanbul.
Our experiences made us empathise with other tourists who are trying to navigate the ever-changing situation around the world. We especially thought it was necessary to create a blog with up-to-date information, so nobody wastes their time going to a venue they can’t actually enter. Since both of us live in Salisbury, we can give you an accurate account of the current Covid-19 restrictions in case they affect the tourist attraction of your choice.
We hope to become your go-to website for visiting Salisbury. If you like our blog and the town itself, you can also recommend us to your friends. Thank you for your time!
